Maritime heritage

Douarnenez: a maritime town, famous for its sardines. From the dawn of time, Douarnenez has been linked with maritime activity. The town always knew how to make the most of the sardines that came into the Bay, and developed a long-lasting industry by putting the sardines into tins to preserve them. From Gallo-Roman times onwards, Douarnenez has developed its relationship with the sea.
